

Juan Ruiz Levario, 91, longtime resident of Big Lake, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016 in San Angelo. He was born to the late, Pablo and Juanita Ruiz Levario on June 24, 1924 in Mertzon. On August 6, 1946, he married Maria Ramirez in Mertzon. They were married just over 50 years at the time of her death in 1996. Juan was also known as “Mr. Baseball”, having coached the Big Lake Tigers/Los Tigeres for over 43 years. Juan was the Reagan County Owls’ biggest fan. He supported the kids sports in Big Lake from little league through high school events. Juan was a hard-working man throughout his life. He retired after 33 years service with Southwest Butane. Juan was a member of St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church in Big Lake. He never met a stranger and became a grandpa to everyone in Big Lake. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Juan was preceded in death by his parents; wife; children, Eliseo Levario, Jimmy Levario, Juanita Leija, and Rita Ramirez; 2 grandchildren; and siblings, Luis Levario, Clara Longoria, Pablo Levario, Elosia Jaquez, and Beatrice Mendez.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Juan and Julia Levario, Pablo and Connie Levario, Luis and Connie Levario, Roy Levario, Eva and Javier Siller, and Liza and Bryan Martin; 25 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in the Johnson’s Funeral Chapel with visitation beginning at 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in the St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church, Big Lake. Fr. Prem Thumma will officiate.
