Judith was born on December 23, 1945, in Mondovi, Wisconsin, to George and Ida Kees. After graduating from Mondovi High school in 1964 she worked for a local telephone company. She joined the United States Air Force in 1968, and went to basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She trained to be an x-ray technician and served at Randolph AFB during the Vietnam War. After her service in the Air Force, she moved back to Wisconsin and earned her LPN certificate from Milwaukee Area Technical College. She met the love of her life, John S. Fiveash, in 1978, and was married May 19 of that year at Mather AFB, Sacramento. She worked as a nurse in hospitals and clinics wherever her husband was assigned. While living in Wiesbaden, Germany, she had the privilege of caring for the Iranian hostages after their release in 1981. While stationed in Europe they enjoyed traveling in their free time. In 1983, after John's retirement from the USAF, they returned to John's family home in San Angelo. Judith worked for San Angelo Community Hospital while attaining her RN degree from Angelo State University. In 1988, she earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from ASU. From 1995, until her passing Judith was employed as manager of the Tricare Service Center at Goodfellow AFB Clinic. A longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church she was also a board member with the local Lutheran Brotherhood, a fraternal benefit society. She was very involved in Christians in Action and Rebuilding Together. Judith was a passionate mother, grandmother, wife and friend. Her mother, Ida E. Kees, preceded Judith in death.
She is survived by her husband, John; father George W. Kees of Wisconsin; five children, Nicholas W. Fiveash of Texas, John S. Fiveash II of Maryland, Arthur William (Bill) Fiveash of Utah, Brenda J. Beck of Washington and Barbara L. Latham of Colorado; sisters Donna McClure of California, Diana LaMar of California and Karen Kmosena of Wisconsin; brother Dennis Kees of Wisconsin. Ten very loved grandchildren and many cherished nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many neighbors, friends and coworkers. Judith was loved and respected by all who knew her. Wherever she served she always left the organization better than she found it. Judith received many awards and commendations for work well done. All will miss her.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of the Melanoma Clinic at MD Anderson in Houston, Dr. Charlesworth and Judy Phelps LVN of Shannon Clinic, Pastor Kurt and the members of Calvary Lutheran Church, Lilia, Peggy, Barbara, Virginia, Tina, Sherrie and Kathy of VistaCare Hospice for their loving care.
