

Kennard A. Moos passed away on Friday July 15, 2011. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday July 20 at Johnson Street church of Christ with burial following at Belvedere Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 19 from 6:00 -8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home.
Born August 23, 1922 to Reuben and Bonnie Moos. He married June Adelle Crews January 16, 1944. They were married for 44 years and had three children; Connie Rogers and husband Darrell, Dale Moos and wife Kerry, of San Angelo, and Ginger Smith and husband Mike of Tuscola. He had five grandchildren, Jeff Rogers, Keith Rogers, Matthew Moos (with whom he had a very special bond), Karen Gigger, Kayla Smith and 3 great-grandchildren.
Kennard was preceded in death by his wife June Moos and four brothers, K.J., Kenneth, Robert and Roy Moos. He is survived by his sister Virginia Goad and brother Earl Moos.
Kennard married Mary Nuckols on August 19, 1989. He is survived by his wife Mary Moos, four step-children, Sue Arent, Jay Nuckols and wife Mary, David Nuckols and wife Roseanne, and Debra Tice and husband Marc. He was preceded in death by 2 step-grandchildren, Brandon Meschi and Byler Nuckols. He is survived by 14 step-grandchildren, Erin, Jessie, Eric, Trevor, Chad, Kimberly, Keith, Austin, Megan, Jonathan, Abigail, Jacob, Simon and Naomi and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
Kennard served in the U.S. Navy as a fighter pilot during WWII. He retired from the U S Postal Service after 30 years of service. He learned the craft of woodworking from his father and did many remodeling jobs with his brother KJ Moos. Kennard was an elder at Johnson Street Church of Christ. He lived his faith daily in every aspect of his life. His father and brothers loved to sing and often sang as a group at the old McKnight Hospital.
Kennard loved to fish and go camping. He belonged to the Twin Mountain Camping Club for many years. Kennard was famous for his “Moos” steak off the grill at the numerous family and friend get togethers through the years. Kennard’s sweet spirit and quiet acceptance touched every person he came in contact with. His decisive, yet gentle demeanor made him a pillar in his family, church and community.
Pallbearers will be Chris Mason, Chad Nuckols, Jeff Rogers, Keith Rogers, Levi Mason, Keith Meschi, Simon Tice, Carl Schobel and Jonathan Tice. Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew Moos, Capt. Austin Tice, LTJG Eric Nuckols, Bryan Mahon, Jim Strothers and Al Green.
Because of his passion and willingness to help others, memorials may be made to West Texas Christian Foundation or Rust Street Ministries in lieu of flowers.
