

He was born April 6, 1926 in Elmira, New York to Leslie and Melva Dickens. He lived in Elmira, New York and then moved to San Angelo, Texas after retirement.
He was a salesman 31 years with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He served in the Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church in Elmira, New York.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion, of 51 years. He is survived by a sister, Florence Spirides, of Savannah, GA; three children, son Robert Dickens and wife Susan, daughter Karen Benjamin and husband Darin, and son William Dickens, whom he resided with. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas on Monday, September 5, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home.
