

Kenneth Ray Pierson was born on July 25, 1933 to Orthal and Alma Turner Pierson in Paris, Illinois. Ken departed this life on January 6, 2013. He lived a very happy, full life. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness and generosity. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Earl and Gene, Step brother Jim and his first wife, Marie. He is survived by his loving family; wife Elta, son Mitchell and wife Rose, Daughter Beverly and fiancé Arvil, step children Bill and wife Andy, Barbara and husband Greg, Sister Mary of Indiana, and Debra. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many other “adopted” family members.
Ken joined the Air Force at the age of 17 and was stationed in Japan, Spain and several US Bases. He retired from the Air Force with over 20 years of service. After leaving the service , Ken worked in Michigan at a factory and later settled in San Angelo, TX where he started a new career with the Tom Green County Sheriff’s department and worked there for 12 years until he retired. Ken was a mason and a member of the Amateur Radio Club and Shriner’s International.
After retirement, Ken and Elta spent many happy hours playing golf and reading. He loved to work with wood and made several shelves, book cases and pieces of furniture. Traveling in their RV, Ken and Elta shared wonderful memories, especially enjoying nature while visiting National parks throughout the United States and Canada. They also enjoyed a cruise to Alaska.
We wish to thank Dr. Noack and staff, Dr. Leon and staff, and Dr. Stephenson and staff, Angelo Kidney Connection and staff for their loving care.
Pallbearers will be, Joe Kent, Brian Weiland, Roy Martin, and Greg Baldwin.
Visitation will be Thursday night 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Johnson’s Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Friday January 11, 2013 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to ALS, Heart Association, Diabetes Foundation, Wounded Warriors or other favorite Charities.
