Tommy Tallas will officiate. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Cemetery.
Libby was born on January 5, 1919, in Elgin, Texas to Samuel Vince and Annie Rose Dusek. She grew up in the Hutto and Elgin areas, moving to the Wall, Texas area as a teenager. She was a lifelong member of the Brethren Church. She was confirmed in the Taylor Brethren Church, she became a member of the Wall Brethren Church upon her move to West Texas.
Libby married Frank Holik, Jr. on January 9, 1940. Together they farmed and ranched in the Wall area. During the early years, she worked along side Frank, clearing land, raising chickens and gathering crops. They proudly raised their 4 children in the Wall Schools and in the Wall Brethren Church.
Libby was well known for her hospitality. Friends and family could never come to visit without her breaking out snacks or preparing a full meal for them. She loved Czech music; she and Frank enjoyed going to polka dances and they always had Czech music playing in their home. As her health began to fail her, in recent years, she spent many hours watching her polka videos and singing along with the music. She was fluent in Czech and enjoyed speaking the language whenever she had the chance. Libby was also an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed sewing shirts, Easter dresses and school clothes for her children and grandchildren, as well as wedding dresses for both of her daughters.
She loved holidays and making them special for her children and grandchildren. We have countless memories of the Christmas Eves, Easter egg hunts, July 4th fireworks and Halloweens. Birthdays were extra special. Until she could no longer walk, she baked birthday cakes for all the children and grandchildren. She loved participating in her children’s school and church activities. She often served as a room mother for school parties, accompanied her children on field trips and attended school sporting events. She and Frank provided the Friday ice cream treats to the Vacation Bible School children for years.
Raised in the Christian faith themselves, she and Frank provided a strong faith-based upbringing to their children, as well. Her Bible reading and prayer life were important elements of her daily routine. She never let her feet touch the floor in the morning without saying a prayer and she never went to bed without reading her Bible and praying. Her family drew great comfort in knowing that Mom was always in prayer for them, whatever the circumstances they were facing.
