Our mother, Linda Huerta, 68, of San Angelo, earned her wings on Thursday, December 17, 2020 in San Angelo. An open visitation will be from 8 am to 8 pm Monday, December 28th with a Rosary recited at 6 pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Mundo Flores, Johnny Flores, Elias Partida, Matt Castillo, Michael Hernandez and AJ Jurio.
Linda was born on May 30, 1952 in Lubbock, Texas to Luz and Manuela Gomez. She married Manuel Huerta on April 13, 1999 and renewed their vows through the church on December 11, 2004. Manual thanks God for a beautiful 25 years of marriage full of love and laughter.
Linda was devout in her faith and a true servant of God. She always had such a sense of God’s peace around her. She helped found a Josephines ministry that prayed, led novenas, raised funds for St. Joseph Church and did anything that was asked of her. She was self-employed as an amazing seamstress. Her work is all over the church in tapestries and cushions. As a proud member of the Josephines ministries, she had a passion for jail ministries, served as director of Cursillo, teacher’s aide, bus driver and was proudly involved in various events with her children and grandchildren.
Linda will always be remembered for her adventurous, loud-outgoing personality, spending time with grandkids, and playing games with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luz and Manuela Gomez and Eugenio and Francis Ramos, brother, Pete Gomez, sister, Sandy Nunez, brother, Glen Ramos, and brother Joel Ramos.
Linda is survived by her spouse Manuel Huerta, sons; Juan and Arlene Hernandez, Randy and Bridget Catano, Ruben and Brenda Catano, Juan and Erica Torres, daughter, Alicia Torres and her spouse, A.J. Jauri; siblings, Luz Gomez, Jr., Mark Ramos, Iris Alexander, Gladys Barreras, Sandra Blakley, Yvonne Searfoss and Sylvia Ortiz, 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and was dearly loved by her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the Huerta family asks that you make a memorial donation in Linda Huerta’s name to GoFundMe. The family would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at Shannon Hospital, staff of Johnson’s Funeral Home and St. Joseph Catholic Church and Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
