Margaret Elizabeth Burgess

Margaret Elizabeth Burgess joined her husband, Herman, in heaven on Saturday, November 06, 2010 surrounded by her family. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 7 from 2-4 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Graveside services will be on Monday, November 8 at 11:00 am at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Margaret was born October 25, 1917 in Sherman, TX. She eloped with Herman Burgess on July 4, 1939 to Ballinger, TX and kept it a secret for 2 weeks. Thus began the heritage of fun, faith and family for the Herman Burgess Clan. She and her husband were long time members of Lakeview Baptist Church where they taught in the children’s and young people’s departments. She also served as secretary for their TV repair business, Burgess Radio and TV, while raising their 5 children. Her greatest joy was spending time with family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman, their infant daughter Marilyn Joyce, and her great grandson, Taylor Harrison. She is survived by her daughters Sue Harrison and husband, Charles; Betty Taylor and husband George; and Teresa Ayers and husband Gary, all of San Angelo; her son, Ted Burgess and wife Joy of Bakersfield CA, and daughter Sherree Self and husband, Mike of Mansfield, TX; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
