

Marion "Buddy" Taylor Calhoun, 87, of San Angelo, passed away January 1, 2015 in San Angelo, Texas after a brief illness. Buddy was born the second of seven children on the family farm on the banks of the South Concho River near Christoval, Texas on August 4, 1927 to Samuel Taylor and Cecil Beatrice Dickens Calhoun. Buddy proudly served in the U. S. Army in Europe during WWII. Upon his discharge, Buddy had two primary jobs. One was in management at the San Angeles Hotel and the other was Gandy's Dairy, where he worked more than 40 years both on his milk route and in management. His milk route is where he made so many friends in San Angelo and the surrounding area. Buddy loved his work at Gandy's and made lasting friendships with the Gandy family and his coworkers. Buddy had such a friendly spirit that he never met a stranger and would make a new pal every place he went. He was a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Samie Ewald, JoAnn Kleypas, Frances Elaine Calhoun, and the birthmother of his children, Myrle Bagley Calhoun. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Erma; daughter, Sherree Redzierez and husband, Don of Edgewood, NM; son, Scott Calhoun of Christoval, TX; step-daughter, Linda Mooney and husband, Jim of Victoria, TX; step-son, Bret Smith and wife, Lynne of Mineral Bluff, GA; brothers, Bobby Calhoun of Phoenix, AZ, Earl Calhoun of Bulverde, TX, and Danny Calhoun and wife, Deborah of San Angelo; grandchildren, Daysha Boelter and husband, Rick, Billy Gartman and wife, Rachael, Levi Calhoun and wife, Liz, Samuel Calhoun and wife, Alicia, Kansas Franzman and husband, Steve, Dustin, Cameron and Carly Smith, CJ and Ben Mooney; great-grandchildren, Cheyenna Yates, Robbie Mosley, Carissa and Juliette Gartman, Jemma Calhoun, Noah, Aiden, Grayson and Ainsley Calhoun, Branson Mooney; many nephews, nieces, and a great many friends.The funeral service will be held at 4:00 P.M., Monday, January 5, 2015 at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel.
