

Mary Alma Stebens Brocker, 94, of San Angelo, went to be with her lord and Savior Tuesday Feb. 5, 2013. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Pastor Gary Philips from Lifepoint Baptist Church officiating, of which she was a member. Mary was born Aug. 31, 1918, to William and Gertrude Stebens in Garden City, Kan. She was the second of 12 children. She married Francis Brocker Dec. 9, 1938 in Lakin, Kan. They started their married life in Monte Vista Colo. and moved to Pueblo, Colo. working for Standard Oil. They also moved to Dodge City, Kan. Lubbock, Texas and settled in Albuquerque, N.M. Mary studied art at the studio of Joe Murrillo, a professor of art at the University of New Mexico. After moving to San Angelo, Mary became a lifetime member of the Kendall Art Gallery. She taught art classes in San Angelo and Ozona. She was a well known artist specializing in blue bonnets, barns and windmills. She entered may exhibits across West Texas including the "Stribling Art Show" winning many awards. She was also a member of the Greater San Angelo Craft Guild. Mary was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers Harold, Jim, Ed, Stebens; sisters Pauline (Irisk), Millie(Irisk Miller), Lola(Stopple) and Gertie (McCullum); son-in-law Edward Fuqua; and numerous lifelong friends. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Fuqua; granddaughter Kara Feruson (Nathan); grandson John Fuqua' great-grandsons, Eric, Tyler and Harley Ferguson and William Fuqua (Ariana); greatgreat-grandchildren Shi and Eric Ferguson, Cheyanne Fuqua and Mickey Mann; brother Willard Stebens of California; sisters Joan Washam of Washington, Jan Kelly of Colorado and Dorothy Komlofske of Kansas; sister-in-law Janice Stebens of Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews across the United States. The family would like to thank Dr. Morton, home health aide, Sherry and Recency House Nursing Home for her care in the last year. Dr. and nurses from Lighthouse Hospice for her last week.
