You were the sun in our day, the wind in our sky, the waves in our ocean, and the beat in our hearts. We do not mourn your loss. We celebrate your life. We love you a lot but God loves you more. And so it came to pass that your guardian angel whispered, “Mary, take my hand and come with me.” With that, your life on earth became your life in heaven.
A graveside celebration of Mary’s life is at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016 in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home. Fr. Charles Greenwell of Holy Angels Catholic Church will officiate.
Mary Emma Busing’s journey began 21 July 1917. She was the daughter of Nebraska Farmers (George and Elizabeth F. (Landkamer) Busing. She was married 4 Jan. 1939 to the son of Texas Ranchers (Louis F. and Matilda (Krischke) Decker. Mary Emma (Busing) Decker’s life on earth ended 11 Jan. 2016.
Even though she was from Nebraska, she loved Texas. Her favorite area of Texas was the Texas Hill Country. Her favorite flower was the Texas Bluebonnet. She was a dedicated nurse and spent many years working in the nursing profession in San Angelo, Odessa, and El Paso, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Stephen L. Decker; two sons and one daughter: George Decker, Alan Decker, Chief Engineman, U.S. Navy (Ret.), and Sister Regina Decker, Congregation of Divine Providence. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Kenneth (Chief Radioman, U.S. Navy (Ret.)) and Gloria (Bungag) Decker of Newport News, Virginia; daughter Ramona (Decker) Wilkins of Paris, Texas; and by an interesting, intelligent, and sometimes colorful collection of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mary Decker led a full life. She will be missed by all who knew her. To the world she was one, but to more than one she was the world. It has been said that, "when there is a death, a new star appears in the night sky.” Rest in peace, Mom. You are now in the arms of angels and there is a new bright star in the night sky of heaven.
