Mildred E. Day

Mildred Elizabeth Day passed away December 14, 2011 at the age of 87 in Robert Lee TX. Graveside services will be held Saturday December 17 at 2 pm in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo TX. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home.

Mildred was born on March 5, 1924 to Carl Chilton and Buriea Lea (Conner) Pendergrass in Roswell New Mexico.

Mildred married the love of her life H.E. (Hurchel) Day on May 23, 1942 in Fredrick Oklahoma. They were soul mates until Hurchels death in April 2006. They made their home in San Angelo TX.

Mildred dedicated her life to raising a wonderful family consisting of two daughters, Nyoka Gillit and Tonie Welch.

Mildred" Grandma" gave her heart and soul to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Buriea Lea Pendergrass, husband H.E. (Hurchel) Day, son in law Gerald Welch.

Mildred is survived by two daughters, Nyoka Gillit of Merkel TX, Tonie Welch of San Angelo TX. Four grandchildren, Randy and Cathy Gillit of Abilene, TX, Karla and Ricky Jackson of Merkel TX, Jerry Welch of Fort Worth TX and Leslie Welch Maynard of San Angelo TX.

Seven Great grandchildren, Cody Jackson of Merkel, TX, Katharine Jackson of Abilene, TX, Caston Gillit of Lubbock TX, Keely Gillit of Abilene, TX, Carly Gillit of Abilene TX, Kylie Maynard and Holly Gibbs of San Angelo Tx. One Great Great grandchild, Gabriel Medina of Abilene, TX.; Six sisters Thelma Pauline Rickard of Wichita Falls Tx, Louise Brewer of Georgia, Lucille Foster of Lamesa, TX, Shirley Dinsmore of Florida, Vera Lee Brown of Dallas Tx, and Doris McCain of Hillsboro TX. A sister in law Betty and Wayne Shawn of Colorado City TX.

The family would like to thank the staff at Robert Lee Nursing Center and Vista Care Hospice for their love and compassion that they showed to Mildred.
