

Family visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2013 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in Barnhart Rest Haven Cemetery in Barnhart with the Rev. Larry A. Young of First United Methodist Church of Big Lake officiating. Johnson's Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Mina Ruth was the eldest daughter of Vivian Inez and Ralph V. Jennings. She was born January 27, 1934, in Abilene, Texas and attended Abilene schools, graduating in 1950, then went on to attend college at Angelo State in 1951. In college she met and later married her lifelong love Joe Roy Collins on Feb. 15, 1953. They were united in her parents' home in Midland, Texas and out of their loving union came four healthy boys. Mina Ruth was a loyal employee to the Reagan Memorial Hospital District for over 20 years before she retired. She also enjoyed fellowship with her sister members of the Happy Homemakers Club of Big Lake. Mina was a valued member of the Ladies Methodist Church Bible Study Group and she and Joe Roy also enjoyed their regular Wednesday luncheons with the Trail Blazers Organization. Mina Ruth and Joe Roy also enjoyed watching many sports activities in and around the Reagan County Community. You could find them in the bleachers at almost every sport; some of her favorites were basketball and baseball. Mina Ruth was also a member of the Texas Medical Records Association and passed her spare time reading favorites such a romance novels and different magazines.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her eldest son, Joe Ralph (Buster) Collins. Survivors include husband Joe Roy Collins of Big Lake; three sons, Eddie Wayne and wife Jenny Collins of Houston, Kenneth Lee (Red) and wife Robin Collins of Big Lake and David Brian and wife Patti Collins of Mertzon; three grandsons, Ian and wife Mandie Collins of Katy, Texas, Grayson and wife Kari Collins of Colorado and Andy Coates of Iraan; six granddaughters, Kimberly Junkin and Kara Collins both of Midland, Texas, Katy Collins of San Angelo, Mindy and husband Will Seahorn of Ozona, Hannah and husband Aaron Horton of Katy, Texas and Kim and husband Randy Stinson of Washington; five great-grandchildren; three nieces; three nephews; and one sister, Beverly Gay and husband Bernie. Pallbears will be Ian Collins, Andy Coates, Joel Denham, Ray Denham, Bernie Wayne Phillips and Billy Millsap. Honorary pallbears will be Grayson Collins, Will Seahorn, Jack Blakely, Terry Warriner, Dave Carr, Ron Galloway and Bobby Whisman.
The family requests memorials be sent to Reagan County Care Center Friends, Hospice of San Angelo or Alzheimer's Association.
