Nancy attended Lake View High School where both she and her brother, Glen Ray Burleson, were members of the high school marching band. She went on to marry A1C Gary Alan Mortenson from Port Chester, New York on June 12, 1970. During her forty two years of marriage to her husband Gary, they had three children; Samantha Braun from San Angelo, Texas; Sebastian Mortenson of Monroe, Connecticut, and Peyton Sawyer also from San Angelo. Nancy and her family moved to Norwalk, CT in July of 1981. She worked for several years as a motor route supervisor for the Stamford Advocate in Stamford, CT and later as a sales representative for the Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company. Having never lost the yearning for Texas, Gary and Nancy moved back to San Angelo in 2004. There she was able to enjoy the next eight years with her grandchildren and the many friends and relatives living in San Angelo and nearby areas. Nancy is survived by her mother, Virginia Burleson; her brother Glen Ray Burleson and his wife Linda, her husband Gary, all three children, three grandchildren, Brittany O’Connor and her siblings Willow and Grayson Braun, also from San Angelo, and several aunts, uncles and many cousins, and her adopted sister Jessica Price.
Many thanks go to Bob and Julie Steely and other close friends and family members that were always there when needed. A special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff members at the Cancer Center in the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio for their ongoing care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Methodist Bone Marrow Clinic in San Antonio, TX.
