

O. D. Toney passed away Wednesday afternoon September 22, 2010 in San Angelo at a local hospital following a lengthy battle of lung complications. Graveside services will be held at Ft. Chadbourne Cemetery, nine miles north of Bronte on Hwy 277 Monday September 27 at 1:00 PM with James Adams officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
O. D. was born in Buffalo Gap, TX on August 5 1922 to Charles and Otha Toney. He had been a resident of San Angelo for 40 years plus, having lived in California a number of years. He was an electrician by trade and worked in the aircraft industry in California. O.D. was retired from the Texas Highway Dept. He served in the military during WWII. He loved family and his animals, especially his horses, dogs and the list goes on. He was a man of honesty and integrity.
O. D. was married to Vesta Joyce Ferrell on May 30th 1947 in Stamford, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carlos and Coy, Sister Bernice Martin and his son Mike.
Survivors include his wife Vesta, his daughter Margie Laughlin, grandsons Chris and Ryan Trevathan, granddaughter-in-law Sue Chana, his brother Charles Ray and wife Nina, sisters Patsy Pugh and Ima Jean Bell and many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
