

Quentin R. Banister, Jr., 62, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 13, 2011 in San Angelo. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. –– 8:00 P.M., Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Johnson’’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 17, 2011 at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in San Angelo with the Rev. Ben G. Hubert officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Quentin was born November 3, 1948 in San Angelo, Texas to Quentin R. Banister, Sr. and Marjorie Faye Morrow Banister and was any honorary son to Jerry and Earleen Jones. He grew up in San Angelo and graduated from Central High School in 1967. He married Kathrine Victoria Word , September 5, 1969 and they had 2 children. Quentin loved fishing, hunting, following the Bobcat football team, and helping other people, as he had a heart bigger than Dallas. He was a member of the Concho Bass Club. He loved wearing his pink western shirt, dancing, and listening to country music. Quentin opened Banister Plumbing & Heating in 1974. He was honored to do the plumbing for the new field house at the San Angelo Stadium as it brought back wonderful memories of being on the 1966 State Champion football team from Central High School and the many great guys of that team. In his heart they were family. Quentin was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and businessman. Friend Randy Stout, describes him best, "Quentin was a good and loyal friend." Quentin was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Nancy Jane Banister and his wife, Kathy Word Banister. He is survived by his loving family, daughter, Deidra Chantel Banister and Tony Lopez and their daughter, Kathrine Myshel Lopez, all of San Angelo; his son, Wade Banister and his wife Lacy, and their children, Katelyn Victoria Banister and Quentin Kyle Banister, all of Water Valley; his Brother, Vernon M. Banister, of Denton, TX; his Sister, Deborah G. Wilson and her husband Silas, of Bronson, FL; his special friend, Leslie Morrow, of San Angelo; and numerous other family members and close friends; and Glenda Banister, of San Angelo. Pallbearers for the service will be Adolf Ramirez, Deryl Shields, Jerry Arthur, Alfred Leal, Joe Constancia and Ruben Limon. Honorary pallbearer for the service will be Jimmy Machann, J.D. Gould and Don Taggart. Memorials may be made to the West Texas Boys Ranch or your favorite charity or organization.
