SAN ANGELO Sammie Todd, 88, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 11, 2010. Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Johnsons’ Funeral Home with David Gay officiating. Sammie was born October 12, 1922, in Brownfield, Texas, to Will and Mae Legg. She graduated from Christoval High School in 1939 and following high school she attended and graduated from San Angelo Junior College. Sammie went to work for Houston Harte at the San Angelo Standard Times immediately following college graduation. Sammie continued with the Standard Times off and on for many years, and thoroughly enjoyed her work and all her friends there. She retired from the Standard Times on August 1, 1990 to spend time with her grandchildren. Sammie was a faithful member of the Johnson Street Church of Christ and enjoyed all the time she spent helping with the Footprints of the Faithful program.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she spent many hours watching soccer games, basketball games, volleyball games – always coming to those games with an encouraging word.
Sammie was preceded in death by her parents. Sammie is survived by her
daughter Pam Box and son-in-law Kyle Box, her granddaughter Lindsay Beddow and her husband Josh, of Minneapolis, Minnesota and by her grandson Patrick Box of San Angelo, Texas.
The family would like to thank all the staff of Sagecrest for the love and care they
provided to Sammie for the last two years. They have all been a true blessing.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to the Sagecrest
Alzheimer’s Unit or an organization of the donor's choice.
Sammie was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
