Wanda Christine (Wiley) Medders left this life to be with her Lord, Jesus, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, with her husband by her side. She was born in Atkins, Pope, Arkansas on May 10, 1939, to Thomas Blaine Wiley and Ona Lee Stobaugh. Wanda was the youngest of five children of which three siblings passed prior to the age of one. Wanda graduated from Hector High School in 1957. She treasured the time helping her father with farm chores, and her mother would sneak her away at times to play and visit friends.
While at a church potluck in Appleton, Arkansas, a young man from Texas was visiting relatives and couldn’t take his eyes off of Wanda. Bille Joe Medders entered her world and this was the beginning of their enduring love. Billie and Wanda married on September 2, 1958, in Russellville, Arkansas, and later settled in San Angelo, Texas, where they built a life together and shared 67 years, 5 months and 22 days of marriage.
Wanda’s greatest happiness was found in caring for others and in the small moments of everyday life. She spent many peaceful hours in her garden and took pride in cooking for her family, making sure no one ever left her house hungry. She loved collecting rocks and had a special gift for finding beauty in ordinary things. She also looked forward to garage sales, where she enjoyed searching for hidden treasures and sharing her excitement over each new discovery. Her family will always remember her warm home, her generous heart, and the love she showed in countless simple ways.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings; Clarence Wiley, Fay Wiley, Mildred (Wiley) Riley, Johney Wiley, and Allene Wiley.
She is survived by her husband, Billie Joe Medders; children, David Medders and wife Elizabeth from Weatherford, Texas, Billy Medders and Hong from Round Rock, Texas, grandchildren Brandon Medders and wife Tiffany, Brooke Medders, Joshua Medders and wife Brittany, Heather (Nikki) Morton and husband Matthew, Natalie Medders and Lily, and great-grandchildren Madison, Max, Eli, and Jonah.
Her family will remember her whenever flowers bloom, a good meal is shared, or a small treasure is found, and they will carry her love with them always.
The family wishes to thank a special friend, Dora Robinson of San Angelo, Texas, for her care and compassion.
