

William Burr (Bill) Poteet was born March 10, 1921, to the Rev. Horace and Elizabeth Poteet in Copperas Cove, Texas. He graduated from Thorton High School in 1938. He attended Weatherford Junior College from 1938 to 1940. He attended Radio School on Gallups Island, Boston, Mass., in preparation for the Merchant Marines. He served during World War II as a radio operator in the Merchant Marines in the North Atlantic. In 1946, he and his wife, Clara, were married in Dallas, Texas. They moved to San Angelo, Texas, that same year. He worked as a technician for KGKL for 39 years until his retirement in 1985. He also worked parttime for KCTV for several years. Bill loved learning so much, that he took courses at Angelo State University while working. He is a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; his parents; and his brother, Horace Poteet. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Fast and husband John of Littleton, Colo.; and his son, Randy Poteet and wife Sally of Bellingham, Wash. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Chrissy and husband Kevin of Durango, Colo., and Jason Fast of Lakewood, Colo. He has one sister, Ann Radde of Fort Worth, Texas. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Johnson's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at St. Luke United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
