
Aaron Golden was born on June 10, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York and passed away on February 18,2002. Aaron was brought to Miami as an infant and grew up there. He attended the University of Florida and received a BBA in accounting. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Golden landed on the beaches of Normandy three days after D-Day and participated in the invasion of Western Europe. After the war, he moved to San Antonio and shortly thereafter married Clarice Lerner, whose family had established Lerner's Grocery Store in the 1920's. A small-business man and entrepreneur, Mr.Golden operated the Currency Exchange at the San Antonio International Airport for almost twenty years and was known as a friend to many San Antonio bankers and travelers, as well as airport employees. Previously, he was the proprietor of the Atlas Café on Broadway. Mr. Golden was a member of Temple Beth-El for more than fifty years and was active in the Temple Brotherhood. Mr. Golden was predeceased by his beloved wife of fifty-two years, Clarice Lerner Golden, and his sister Beatrice "Beady" Berler, a noted translator of Mexican literature. He is survived by his daughters Carol Golden Miller and Marilyn Golden and his grandchildren, Russell, Adam, and Jordi Miller. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Norman Miller, his brother-in-law, Morris Lerner, and his sister-in-law Ruth Lerner, as well as his nieces Peggy Belasco and Joni Ross and their families. The family wishes to express its deepest appreciation to Aaron's extraordinarily devoted personal assistant Mary Flores and to his physician Dr. Robert Schnitzler. Aaron Golden was widely beloved by family, friends, and work associates alike for his enthusiasm for life and his warm and friendly joviality towards everyone.Pallbearers will be Ron Arbetter, Dr. Marvin Belasco, Chuck Jefferson, Norman Miller, Adam Miller, Russell Miller, James Rosson and Jerry Rosson. Honorary pallbearers will be David Jonathan Cooper, Nat Jefferson, Walter Klein, Morris Lerner, Max Rosenstein, Dr. Walter Rosson, Dr. Sydney Schiffer, Dr. Robert Schnitzler, Alan Schumann, Lewis Sessions and Harold Vexler.
