

Adeline Holliday, 93, died in Tucson, Arizona on Monday, October 12. She was born on the family farm near Rowena, Texas on May 10, 1916, the second of seven children of John and Mary Simecek, Czech immigrants who met and married in Texas.
Adeline graduated from Ballinger High School and went on to receive her B.A. degree from The University of Texas at Austin. She then taught school for two years in Placedo, Texas. Following the U.S. entry into the Second World War, Adeline joined the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps later WAC in October, 1942.
She served as a Lieutenant and was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. After the war she moved to San Antonio and worked at Ft Sam Houston, where she met and married Major later Lt Colonel Terrell C. Holliday on January 1, 1947.
They raised three children in San Antonio: Lawrence Cole, Vance Terrell, and Barbara Kay. Adeline moved to Tucson in 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 1, 1970.
She is survived by sister, Esther Simecek, her children, daughter-in-law Diane, granddaughters Jocelyn and Xi Cora, great-grandson Patrick, and many nieces and nephews.
She was a kind, gracious, and adventurous lady who will be greatly missed.
