Agnes Grace Brown died at the age of 97 in the arms of our Lord and Jesus Christ on May 14, 2012, after a brief battle with pneumonia and joined her husband in death, Robert A. Brown, Jr. She was born on October 21, 1914 in Tabriz, Persia, of missionary parents from the United States and, on one occasion, had to escape Persia (now Iran) by covered wagon during a revolution. She met her husband, Robert, in college in Wooster Ohio. They married in Neptune, New Jersey and after her husband supplied many pulpits, settled in San Antonio in the mid 1940’s where Rev. Brown tended to his flock at the Divine Redeemer Presbyterian Church in San Antonio until his retirement. She was very active in church and community while sewing as the choir director and self- taught organist. She was an angel of a mother who was always home for her children and continued to love and support them into their adult lives. She had no interest in material things but instead cared for all she touched in life. She was the oldest of her six siblings and is survived by her sister, Connie Tomlinson in Tennessee; her brother, Frank Gifford in California. She has many grandchildren, great-grandchild and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by all of her seven children: Helen (Fred San Roman) and Robert (Wanda) in San Antonio; Margaret (Leslie McLean), Stuart, Paul (Robin) and David in Houston; and Kathy (Dr. Carlos Lozano) in Austin. Our beloved mother will be sorely missed. A special thanks to the staff at Regent Care Center and CIMA Hospice. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., June 3, 2012 at Divine Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
