Aida S. Sanchez

She was born on February 16, 1931, in San Antonio, TX to Frank Salinas and Eugenia Mercado Salinas. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years David Morales Sanchez (August 12, 2016) and siblings Zulema, Arturo, Frank Jr., Olivia, and Amador and survived by her sister Rose Ann Torres, children Catherine, David, Rosanne, and John; grandchildren Santiago, David Joseph, Andrew, Gabriella, Fernando, Noah, Elijah, and great grandchildren Olivander, Luna, Armani, Xaiden, Landon, and Mario along with numerous nieces and nephews. Her greatest love was her family, being a friend to everyone she met and her commitment to the Catholic faith. In particular was her involvement to a Catholic movement that strives to live the gospel of Jesus Christ through the example and guidance of the Blessed Mother, known as the Schoenstatt Movement.

Aida was a 5-time cancer survivor and leaned on her strong faith and community to beat cancer each time. Her devotion to the Catholic faith started in her childhood as part of the Guadalupe Catholic Church community in San Antonio’s West Side. She was very proud of the community efforts led by Father Carmelo Tranchese to help bring affordable housing to San Antonio and worked for Guadalupe Church for many years after graduating from Lanier High School in 1948. It was in this same neighborhood that her future husband David Sanchez asked her to a community dance as a first date. Aida loved to dance and when her and David were on the dance floor it was impossible to ignore that they were made for each other. Aida will always be remembered for her laughter, genuine kindness, generosity and the effortless way she always made everyone feel special and welcomed. She will be greatly missed.

A rosary will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3107 N St. Mary’s St., San Antonio, TX 78212 on December 27, 2025 at 10 A.M. and a mass will follow at 10:30 A.M. A private interment ceremony will take place at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
