

Alan was an extremely hard working man, who had a long and outstanding career in the United States Air Force. He used his time to in the USAF to earn his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. In 1969 he went to Vietnam. Alan retired after 26 years of service and he went on to work for 15 year for the state of Texas in DHS. Prior to his retirement he was deployed as part of a mobile communications specialist to Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia.
He married Lynda Marie Erwin on October 10, 1964 and they had 2 children, James Alan Johnson, and Michael Lynn Johnson. Michael passed on October 9, 1970. When he wasn’t hard at work or spending time with his family which he loved the most, he was giving his time to organizations such as USAFA, DAV, and the American Legion. Alan also volunteered at WHMC for 10 years working with Military personnel with possible psychological PTSD issues. He also worked closely with The Hills Church as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. His strong faith and love of the lord is a close bond that he and his family share.
Alan has now reunited with his beautiful bride Lynda, he has her Dance Card full now with exception of one space that's reserved later for his son James. He is also reunited with son Michael, his parents and his brothers Herbert Clifton Johnson Jr., and David Dalton Johnson and his sister Dorothy Ann Johnson Clon.
He leaves behind his son James Alan Johnson and wife Anna Maria Johnson, grandsons Joshua Aaron Johnson, and Caleb Grant Johnson. His sister Liz Shumate and husband Joseph Shumate.
A visitation for Alan will be held Monday, January 11, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and a funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 9:00 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
