

Alberta Jean Schwartz, 87, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, in San Antonio. Alberta “Bertie” was born in East Liverpool, Ohio to Albert and Evelyn Palmer on May 25, 1936, and attended East Liverpool High School, graduating in 1954. She was employed at Riverside Florists, East Liverpool, Ohio, The Campana Factory, Batavia, Illinois, and Lyon Metal, Montgomery, Illinois.
In 1958 Alberta married Alvin Ray Schwartz of Aurora, Illinois. After retirement Al and Bertie enjoyed their final years together at their lake home. She lived for her family and cherished her roles as homemaker and stay-at-home mom for her three children, and as grandmother. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, cooking, canning, quilting, and scrapbooking. She was an avid walker in her senior years. She was an active member of the United Church of God.
Alberta is preceded in death by her husband Alvin, her parents, Albert and Evelyn Palmer, her brother Charles William Palmer “Bill”, her sisters Evelyn Jane Schmitt and Karen Sue Seaux, and a brother-in-law, Paul Schmitt. Alberta is survived by her children: Robert (Edna), Nancy (Alex Tijerina), and Jeff (Carla); brother Albert Jerald Palmer (Lynn); sister-in-law Venita Palmer; grandchildren Amy Schwartz (Gene Halsey), Sarah Schwartz (Sebastion Thorn), Patrick Schwartz (Brittany), Michael Tijerina and Steven Tijerina; and great-grandchildren Logan and Cade Schwartz.
Visitation will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday October 14, 2023, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, on Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas. Funeral services will be held directly after the visitation at 2:00 pm Saturday October 14, 2023, at Sunset Northwest with Pastor Rod Foster of The United Church of God officiating. A burial service will follow at 10:00 am, Monday October 16, 2023, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
