Alberto Q. Velarde

Alberto Q. Velarde - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and cousin Alberto “Beto” Q. Velarde, age 82, passed away in San Antonio, TX, and entered eternal life in the presence of our Savior Jesus Christ on January 19, 2023. Alberto was born on September 23, 1940 in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico to parents Elvira Quiñónez and Francisco Velarde.

Alberto married his loving and adoring wife, Avilia, in 1969. Seeking new opportunities for his wife and four children, he moved permanently to the United States in 1977 and settled in Las Cruces, NM in 1979. While in Las Cruces, he joined the agricultural staff of Stahmann Farms where he practiced his love for farming for decades. In his spare time at home, he enjoyed raising animals and caring for his pecan orchard.

In 2013, Alberto and Avilia moved to San Antonio to be closer to their children and grandchildren. During his years in San Antonio, Alberto dedicated himself to being a very present and loving husband, father, and grandfather. In his free time, he was often with his canine companion, Chapo; working in his garage; or putting together puzzles, many of which he framed and displayed in his garage.

Alberto exemplified the virtues of hard work, loyalty, devotion, reliability, and integrity. He is remembered by his loving family for his peaceful and calming presence. He is also remembered for his playful sense of humor and his supportive perspective.

Loved ones left to honor his legacy include his wife Avilia González Velarde of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Norma Loflin (Charles); son, Jaime Velarde (Rachel); son, Hector Velarde (Jennifer), all of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Ana Killackey (Henry) of Herriman, UT; grandchildren, Isaiah, Avi Joy (Jonah), Gillian, Mia, Garrett, Jacqui, Rosie, and Levi, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was also awaiting the arrival of his first great grandchild.

Serving as casket bearers will be Jaime Velarde, Isaiah Velarde, Garrett Loflin, Charles Loflin, Henry Killackey, Jr., and Jonah Klein.

Alberto Q. Velarde - Nuestro querido esposo, padre, abuelo, tío y primo Alberto “Beto” Q. Velarde, de 82 años, falleció en San Antonio, TX, y entro a la vida eterna en la presencia de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo el 19 de enero del 2023. Alberto nació el 23 de septiembre de 1940 en Camargo, Chihuahua, México a sus padres Elvira Quiñónez y Francisco Velarde.

Alberto se casó con su amada esposa, Avilia, en 1969. Buscando nuevas oportunidades para su esposa y cuatro hijos, se mudo permanentemente a los Estados Unidos en 1977 y se estableció en Las Cruces, NM en 1979. En Las Cruces, trabajó como parte del personal agrícola de Stahmann Farms donde disfrutó de la agricultura por varias décadas. En su tiempo libre en casa, disfrutaba de criar animales y de su nogalera.

En el año 2013, Alberto y Avilia se mudaron a San Antonio para estar más cerca de sus hijos y nietos. Durante estos años en San Antonio, Alberto se dedicó a ser una amorosa presencia como esposo, padre y abuelo. En sus ratos libres, solía estar con su compañero canino, Chapo; trabajando en su taller o formando rompecabezas, muchos de los que puso en marcos y los colgó en su taller.

Alberto ejemplificó las virtudes del trabajo arduo, la lealtad, la devoción, la fiabilidad y la integridad. Su familia lo recuerda por su presencia pacífica y calmante. También es recordado por su sentido del humor y su perspectiva de apoyo.

Sus seres queridos que honrarán su legado incluyen su esposa Avilia González Velarde de San Antonio, TX; hija Norma Loflin (Charles), hijo Jaime Velarde (Rachel), hijo Hector Velarde (Jennifer), todos de San Antonio, TX; hija Ana Killackey (Henry) de Herriman, UT; nietos Isaiah, Avi Joy (Jonah), Gillian, Mia, Garrett, Jacqui, Rosie y Levi, y numerosos sobrinos y sobrinas. También esperaba la llegada de su primer bisnieto.

Sirviendo como portadores del ataúd serán Jaime Velarde, Isaiah Velarde, Garrett Loflin, Charles Loflin, Henry Killackey, Jr. y Jonah Klein.
