

Alfred P. Flores, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was born January 30, 1926, in San Antonio and went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 10, 2007, at the age of 81. Alfred attended Lanier High School and soon volunteered as a paratrooper in the US Army to search for his brother Robert who was missing in action during WWII. Alfred parachuted behind enemy lines, and was the first scout leading squad into combat area to determine movements and position of the enemy. He served six months in the European Theater. During a jump behind enemy lines, Alfred was seriously wounded and subsequently earned The Purple Heart, EAME ribbon with one bronze star and arrowhead, American Theatre ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, and Sharpshooter. He retired after 33 years of civil service with Kelly A.F.B. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents George and Rosaura Flores; his brothers, Efraim, Jorgito, George, Robert, Raul; and his sisters, Velia Menchaca, Bertha Gurrola, Esperanza Rodriguez, and Consuelo Bishop. He is survived by his loving wife, Olga Garcia Flores; daughters, Sylvia Coultress and husband James, Diane Metz and husband Mike; son, Alfred and wife Becky; brothers, Eleazar, Arthur, Edward, Albert; ; grandsons, Jimmy, Russell, John, Christopher, Michael, Ryan; granddaughter Courtney; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, and with other family.
