

Alfred M. Miller, Jr., Brigadier General, ret. USAF, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 1, 2008.
His servant life rested on the mercy and grace of His Almighty God. He was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on October 6, 1928 to Alfred M. Miller and Marian Maer Miller. He was graduated from the University of Texas in 1950, where he played football and was a member of Silver Spurs and Phi Gamma Delta.
With honor, he served his country for thirty-two years as a fighter pilot and in command positions including the 3rd Fighter Wind in the Philippines; the 8th Fighter Wing in Korea; Inspector General of the Pacific; Commander of the 25th NORAD Command Region in Tacoma, WA., receiving meritorious and distinguished recognitions.
He was also a football coach at the U.S. Air Force Academy in the beginning days. Close to his heart, were mission trips to Romania, the Ukraine, England and Venezuela as he served on the Mission Board at Wayside Chapel for twenty-four years. He loved young people and served on the board of Fellowship of Christian Athletes for over twenty years.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Mary Foote Miller of Gainesville, Florida; three sons: Allan Mark Miller, David Bruce Miller and wife, Cathy; Paul Andrew Miller and wife, Linda; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Marian Montgomery and family; brothers-in-law, Perry A. Foote and family; Roger W. Foote and family; members of the Maer Family; and additional members of the Miller Family.
Alf was courageous in war-Korea and Viet Nam, but ever more so, in his final battle with cancer ~ We praise the Name of the Lord.
