So very sorry for your loss of Mr. Sturchio! My condolences to his wife and family!

I have known the Sturchio's all of my life and I consider it an honor to have been on the receiving end of the unconditional love this family has given me.  The light that Al brought to this world will be missed.

The happiness and joy that he shared through his great musical talent is matched only by his athletic abilities through which he changed little boys into fine young men of of high ethics and abilities of whom he must be very proud.

He was a highly valued and special friend to whom we will always be grateful for his profound influence on our lives.

Such a short and quiet, humble obituary for this man of huge musical talent !  His big bands at dance venues remain in my fond memories !

Al and my dad John Esquivel were steadfast friends. Music and education bound them together. I know they are jamming with all their friends in heaven, making great new music. My prayers for peace go out to Janice, Ditto,  and all the family. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🎶🎶🎶

Al Sturchio, a very close friend, who helped bring many educational and musical moments into my life since 1973, will be greatly missed by Judy, myself and the San Antonio community.  I’ll never forget the many meetings at Jim’s Restaurants with Al during my band directing days in NorthEeast ISD schools.  The wealth of information he gave us from his experiences as a band director, administrator, supervisor and musician can not be measured.  I can never thank him enough for the many jobs where we performed together or the ones he recommended me for.  I was highly honored when he asked me to give horn lessons to his daughter Ann.  Working with Al and Janice during the TBA conventions helped keep us connected after retirement.  I will miss our weekly phone calls where Al would always answer the call singing some famous horn solo.  Since I was still teaching horn lessons in many schools, Al always wanted to know what was going on in the band world. Judy and I will miss the many times we ate lunch with Al and Janice at Sea Island.  God Blessed Al Sturchio and his family.
