Alicia B. Alcazar

For 78 years, Alicia Bernal Alcazar brightened someone's day. Alicia was called to the Lord on February 26, 2009 after a beautiful and fulfilling life. A native of San Antonio, Alicia developed strong values and a thirst for knowledge through the direct guidance of several educators at Navarro Elementary and beyond. Her love of country brought her to her first civil service role at Kelly Air Force Base where she met her husband of 50 years, Edgar. A strong advocate for civil rights, Alicia championed the causes of many in her community while raising a family of seven children. Instrumental in bringing several public action projects and groups, such as Communities Organized for Public Service to her neighborhood, she also worked tirelessly as an Equal Employment Opportunity Counselor while at Fort Sam Houston. With a deep dedication to her Catholic faith, Alicia served as a Eucharistic minister, a Guadalupana and on various boards within the St. Stephen's Parish. The love story of Red and Ed Alicia & Edgar will live on in her children's lives forever and we know they are sharing a dance in Heaven. Alicia is preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; a son; and her husband. She is survived by her sister, Stella Marple; her children: Ava, Alicia, Anna, Dolores, Mark, Adrienne, and Elsa; ten grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
