

In 1913, at the tender age of 3, Alicia and her family crossed at Eagle Pass Texas. She became a naturalized U.S.citizen in 1961. She held several occupations, sewing handkerchiefs by hand for Rochester Handkerchiefs in San Antonio, served as a nanny and retired as a contractor at Ft Sam Houston. Alicia was a long-time parishioner of St. Anthony de Padua and Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. She loved to dance to salsas and cumbias and was an avid San Antonio Spurs Fan.
Alicia is preceded in death by her 2 infants, her parents, Jesus and Antonia, brothers, Frank and Narcisso (Chicho) Melendrez, sister, Marcos Melendrez Granado, nephew Johnny Melendrez, niece Lupe Granado Duran, other family members Nancy Susan Duran, Adam Duran Alonso, Carlos Duran Alonso and Gilbert Perez Jr.
Alicia is survived by her nieces Susie Perez (Gilbert) and Lucy Melendrez, nephews Louie Melendrez, Richard E. Duran (Lupe,d) and numerous great grandnieces and nephews: Richard Duran (Mary), Martha Duran, Mary Campos (Gilbert), Norma Rogers (Ralph,d), Robert Duran (Melissa), Jenny Renee Nugent (Gene), Robert Perez, Gene Perez, Tony Perez, Julie Perez, David Perez (Rosie) and George Perez. Rosary will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2016,7 p.m., Porter Loring Mortuary on McCullough, Mass Thursday, February 18, 2016, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 3107 N. St. Mary's St. Interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2.
