He is survived by his wife, Maureen Fay Nowotny, of San Antonio; children, Anastasia Marie Bernal and her husband, Guadalupe, of San Antonio, TX, and Elizabeth Theodora Nowotny of Austin, TX; his grandchildren, Isabella Rene Bernal, Adrian James Bernal, Brandon Zachary Bernal and Christopher Evan Bernal; his brother, Charles Nowotny and his wife, Virginia of New Braunfels, TX; his mother-in-law, Velma Patterson of New Braunfels, TX; sister-in-law, Naomi Patterson of New Braunfels, TX; and her partner, Dr. Craig Merrell of Dallas, TX; his nephew, Carl Nowotny and his wife, Robin and their children, Benjamin and Katelyn of New Braunfels, TX; his niece, Cara Garcia and her husband, Federico and child, Micaela of Wimberley, TX.
