Alton Edwin Miller, devoted son, husband and father, was promoted to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on March 11, 2023. He was 103 years of age, having been born in Dallas, TX on October 18, 1919, and having been born again into the body of Christ at the age of 7. He spent his formative years in San Antonio, tending to his homing pigeons and his donkey, whilst selling watermelons and graduating from Brackenridge High School in 1937. After a 2-year stint at Texas A&M, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and served his country during WWII while stationed in England, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. After the war, he continued his career as a structural steel detailer and engineering draftsman, at Structural Metals Inc. in Seguin and finally retiring from Alamo Iron Works in 1985. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, but his #1 passion was listening to a well-preached sermon on God’s plan of salvation for each one of us. He first became a deacon at Highland Park Baptist Church at age 17 and was later named a life deacon at First Baptist Church in San Antonio. He leaves behind his wife of 71 years Elizabeth; his sons Gene (Marie) and Mark (Amy); 3 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his father, Julius; mother, Martha; brothers, Elwood and Frank; and grandson, Casey.
