Ita (lovingly referred as by some of her grandchildren) enjoyed music and reading, especially poetry. She also loved bright colors and her favorite color was red. She would never go anywhere without her red lipstick. Where Amelia was born, educational opportunities were nonexistent; however, she enjoyed learning new things and always encouraged her children and grandchildren to work hard and pursue an education. Her impeccable work ethic trickled down to her children and grandchildren, which is part of the legacy she leaves behind.
Amelia was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Jose Luis Rodriguez and Blanca Trevino; daughter, Irasema Riojas; and grandson, Oliver Riojas.
She is survived her husband of 69 years, Hector Del Rio; children, Celestino Del Rio (Laura), Irene Leal (Jesus), and Alicia Traylor (John Charles); grandchildren, Hector Celestino Del Rio, Cristobal Riojas, David Riojas, Daniela Riojas, Elisa Leal, Hector Leal, Jesse Leal, Angela Traylor, and Isabella Traylor; great grandchildren, Nadia Riojas, Cristobal Riojas, Castiel Riojas, and Luke Riojas.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Monday, December 4, 2023, at Porter Loring Mortuary West.
