My sincere condolences again to you, Marc, Andrew, Juliana, and the entire family. 

I was sad when Marc told me my dear friend Ana passed from life through death into eternal life, at home, in the arms of her husband of 33 years, Marc. She went into the arms of our Bridegroom Jesus Christ, I hope and pray.

Ana lived purgatory right here on earth, quite a saintly woman who suffered greatly, enough to purge her sins here on earth.

We would chat about once a month., our last chat on January 13, checking up on and praying for each other,  as she carried her huge cross and I bore my tiny splinters. 

We had worked together at the Archdiocese of San Antonio: she in the Office for Christian Initiation and I in the Office for Evangelization. We had friends in common among our coworkers. She was kind enough to write a testimonial for my website which Marc reminded me of recently. We’d have fun chitchatting about different things over the past several years and support one another in prayer, as I’d check up on her regularly. We even had some personal things in common, including family diagnoses, silent suffering, and some birthdays. 

Ana and my Mom had little known and understood auto-immune diseases. Knowing what that is like brought Ana comfort. Seeing her suffer brought me memories and stirred me to compassion. They both left this world far too soon. They both beat me to the Eternal Banquet!

Ana was such a great lady. She had great wit and humor, a mixture of sweet and spunky, soft and strong, humble and grateful.  She reminded me of my Mom. 

She was so grateful for the loving care and prayers she got from her family and friends.  Marc especially did for Ana what no one else could do, and loved and honored her until the very end, as he so valiantly and lovingly took care of her, she’d  tell me.  Now she’s resting in the arms of her faithful and loving Savior.

Marc and family. My condolences and prayers for you all as you grieve the loss of Ana.

My thoughts and prayers are with you always. In the bible, the name Ana means Gracious One. This is the epitome of who Ana was, the gracious one. She was my dear sweet friend for 34 years. We had many many wonderful times together. She was always a joy to be around and such a sweet spirit always. 

While we shared many things over time, the most incredible moment in our friendship was when the Archbishop was kidnapped and the chancery employees came over to the seminary as a safety measure. We had the opportunity to spend that entire day together in my office. Towards the end of the day, they started allowing people to leave the campus in small groups. For those that could not get to their vehicles at the time, they were allowed to be picked up on a neighboring street for safety. Marc was on his way to pick up Ana and as we waited she offered me a ride home with them as well. Ana was very concerned about the events of the day as the kidnapper had still not been captured at that point and still had grenade in hand. Ana was worried if things took a turn that i would be hurt or wouldn't make it out. I was so stunned and touched by this gesture. She didn't want me to be left behind. I assured her I would be okay and if anything bad did happen and it was my time, I was already in the house of the Lord's servants and what better way to go. To this day, i will always remember the love, care and kindness of your beloved Ana (Letty). My heart was full and is full today of the memories i shared with her in our friendship and the memories with your family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all on this journey ahead. I know the last year has been rough for all of you. God 's love and mercy will prevail and He will continue to wrap his loving arms around you and walk with you and give you strength and courage. Much love.

I was saddened to learn of Ana’s passing. Ana was a childhood friend, beginning in first grade at Pauline Nelson and all the way through 12th grade at Thomas Jefferson High. We lived only a few houses apart during our Grade School years and I have fond memories of her; including memories of Ana and her sister and my brother and I walking the three or so blocks to school in the mornings. She was one of those truly special individuals who make life so much more pleasant for everyone around her. Ana was a kind and happy person the whole time I knew her!

My wife joins me in extending our deepest sympathies to the family. Jesus said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be.” And so, to Ana’s family we say, you all will meet again in Christ. You will meet again in God’s place, where there is no more pain and where your tears will be turned in to dancing.

Dear Marc, I am so sorry. Ana was always so beautiful inside and out, I remember how you two dated in high school and how much fun we always had popping fireworks on New Year’s Eve at Aunt Mona’s house! I always remember how she instantly felt like family. We were all so lucky to have her in our lives and so blessed to remember all the joy and happiness she brought to everyone and to celebrate her life that was lived with love and grace.

Marc, Andrew, Juliana, No amount of words that anyone can share will help to alleviate the pain of losing your beloved Wife and Mother. There are so many memories i have with Ana from our 34 years of friendship, there is no way to share them all. The most important i would share is that she loved each of you just as deeply as God himself loves you. Ana was a woman of faith, of honor, of distinction and a woman with a presence like no other. Know that God will bless you with His grace and mercy and carry you through this journey. There are so many friends and family here praying with you and holding you up in God's arms. I will never forget your amazing Ana. 

Ana was a woman of great faith, loved praying the rosary, working on her ACTS teams, staying positive and always looked for the good in people.  She was a good friend who laughed with you, cried with you and never placed judgement. I always admired that about her. She was quiet and gentle and an amazingly hard worker. We had many good times over the years and I remember her care and concern for others always.  We cherished our friendship and stayed in touch over the years. I am grateful for my forever friends.

Dear Marc,
I am stunned! I am so very sorry, dear!  I know we have been out of touch, but you and Ana and the children have often been in my thoughts accompanied by prayer. Memories of our time of ministry together and with Ana in the ACC  are precious as are memories of your engagement and wedding. You are loved and many are walking with you.   


It was a joy to know Ana. She was a beautiful and sweet childhood friend. The Hernandez family opened up their home to me and my sister Barbara. We would go over during the school week, have a yummy breakfast then  off to school we went together. 

To Ana's husband and children and family, may God hold you, help you, and see you through. Someone once told me that we cannot lose someone we love, for whoever touches our hearts deeply is a part of us forever.  With heartfelt sympathy,
