Anais Abella Machado of San Antonio, Texas went to be with her Lord on the evening of August 1, 2015. She was surrounded by family as she left this world. She was born to the late Bruniquilda Oliveros Abella and Anacleto Abella Suarez, October 30, 1929, on Finca Naranjal-the family farm on the outskirts of Baracoa, Cuba. She married the late Rev. Ruben D. Machado in 1954, and they lived together in Artemisa, Cuba before they immigrated to the United States where they made San Antonio, Texas their home. The couple worked together in ministries in San Antonio then later in Atlanta, Georgia-before returning to San Antonio once again.
After graduating from Colegio Marti in Baracoa, Cuba she moved to Havana where she received her Associate’s Degree in Home Economics. She enjoyed decorating, flower arranging and making ceramics-skills she found very useful as a minister’s wife. At the time of her retirement, she was an assistant social worker with the Bexar County Detention Ministries where she touched the lives of inmates and her coworkers with her unmovable faith. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and continued to attend Shearer Hills Baptist Church where she was an active member.
Anais is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother-in-law, George Michael Selizki, Her sisters-in-law, the Machado sisters and her sisters: Angela Ruth Abella and Hilda Noemi Abella Columbie. She is survived by her four siblings and her sisters and brothers – in – law, who she also considered siblings: Cleto I. Abella and Melba Abella; Mercedes Abella Selizki; Neri Abella Matutes and Jose Ramon Matutes; Iris Abella Gonzalez and Moises C. Gonzalez; Wilfredo Columbie and Gladys Machado.
