

Andrew Gourgourakis died peacefully on February 15, 2023, surrounded by his devoted family in Boerne, Texas at the age of 87. He was born on September 23, 1935, in Syros, Greece to Dionysios and Angeliki Gourgourakis. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, George Gourgourakis.
As a young man, he served as an interpreter for the Greek Air Force while stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, where he met his beautiful Carmen.
Andrew earned his BS in Electrical Engineering at the Texas Western College in El Paso and received his MS in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Andrew worked at Texas Instruments (TI) in Dallas and later at SGS Thompson Micro Electronics where he retired in 1999.
He was a member for 40 years at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Dallas. There he enjoy membership in the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA).
Andrew and Carmen celebrated 62 years of a fun, happy and wonderful marriage. They travelled widely around the world and cherished time spent with family and friends. His most beloved place, however, was their home on the island of Syros, Greece where he attended Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church established by generations of his family.
Andrew will be remembered as a dedicated husband and father committed to his beloved family. His easy-going manner and sense of humor endeared him to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed, especially his sensitive wisdom and frequent sharing of commonsense advice.
Andrew is survived by his loving wife, Carmen; his daughter Dayna and her husband Nassos Galiopoulos; his grandchildren George and Andrianna Galiopoulos; his brother Dimitri Gourgourakis; and his sister Sofika Nicoletopoulou and several extended family members residing in Athens, Greece.
Family and friends are invited to join us at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Porter Loring Mortuary North for the Trisagion prayer service. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in San Antonio and burial at Mission Park Cemetery Dominion. Reception to follow burial.
