Anita dedicated her life to loving and supporting her family, especially as a mother, where her deep passion for mothering was evident in everything she did. She was always selfless, putting the needs of others before her own, and her compassionate nature touched everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Amelia and Ambrosio Cardenas, her brothers Higinio Lujan, Joe Lujan, Ambrosio Cardenas Jr., and David Cardenas, and her sister Leticia Lujan. She is survived by her daughter, Destiny Marie Mata, and her sisters, Beatrice Fernandez and Irene Wilborn.
