Born at Camp Stanley, TX on August 12, 1919, the second of two children of James Arthur and Annie Belle Morris.
Her older brother, James Travis Morris, preceded her in death on May 21, 2000.
She grew up in Galveston and San Antonio, and graduated from the University of Texas with a Degree in Journalism.
She worked for newspapers in Gonzales, San Antonio and Houston.
She married her first husband, Kirk Hill on June 14, 1959, widowed on September 10, 1967. Anna married Robert Bob Chappell Mayes on September 25, 1976.
Her great way with words and her sense of humor were a combination that endeared her to many.
She will be missed by her husband, Robert Mayes; her stepdaughter, Ann Moon; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Morris; her six nieces and nephews; and countless friends and extended family members.
