

Anne Ulrich Gruen passed away peacefully on Friday, September 9, 2006. She was born on April 18, 1922 in Hobson, Texas to Louis and Eva Banduch. She was preceded in death by her first husband George I Ulrich, and her second husband Frank X Gruen, brothers Clem and Vincent Moczygemba, a beloved niece and grandchildren.
She is survived by son George Ulrich and wife Karen of San Antonio, daughter Florence Vazquez and husband Jaime of Austin, Texas. Step-children Kathy Gruen Nichols and husband Leland of San Antonio, Frank Gruen and wife Carol of Houston, Texas, Herbert Gruen and wife Amanda of Austin, Texas, as well as 11 grand children and 4 great grand children.
After graduation from St. Ludmilla's High School in Shiner Texas, Anne worked in the Shiner Creamery as a bookkeeper until her marriage to George Ulrich in 1942. They lived in Wichita Falls, Texas and Denver, Colorado before settling in San Antonio. She was very active with her children's school, Parish Altar Society, Holy Family Guild and caring for family members.
Anne eventually returned to work as a church secretary at Holy Name Catholic Church and then at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She married her long-time dear friend, Frank Gruen in 1981. They enjoyed many years of family gatherings in their home and traveling. She remained active in her church and in the Rosary Society and Bible Study. She also did volunteer work at St. Rose Hospital.
