On Valentine's Day 2008, with her family at her side, our great-grandma, grandma, mother, sister and aunt, Annie Belle Phelps Mendolia, joined her husband, Albert Joseph Mendolia, as she entered the Kingdom of Heaven.
Annie was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 4, 1917; lived in New Orleans with her husband for 58 years and eventually moved to San Antonio to be closer to their family. Annie was employed as a Sales Associate in the Furniture Department of D. H. Holmes' Canal Street store for more than 40 years and adored her role in helping her customers make their homes beautiful.
She was a kind, gentle and soft-spoken person who loved her family with "all her heart", took pride in her "tidy" home, and loved to travel with Albert.
She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Lofton and her husband, Dalton; granddaughter, Amie White and her husband, Seth and great-grandson, Hudson Hadley and great-granddaughter, Emerson Paige; sister, Bonnie Phelps Mills; step-grandson, Travis Blake Lofton; step-granddaughter, DeAnna Shirley; and a special niece who meant the world to her, Ramona Mastalerz. Annie was also blessed with three step great-grandchildren, Kelsi Lofton, Amber and Anthony Shirley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She will live in our hearts forever and her spirit will brighten our future.
