

Tony was born to Ramon Nava and Olga R. Nava, September 26, 1952, in Laredo, TX and moved to San Antonio as a child. He graduated from Fox Tech High School in 1971 and continued his education at San Antonio College. He married Yolanda De Los Santos in 1973 and together they created a loving home and raised 3 children; Antonio (Tony) Jr, Ramiro, and Leticia (Letty).
He is survived by his wife Yolanda Nava; his children Antonio (Brittany) Nava Jr, Ramiro (Megan) Nava, and Leticia (Gary) Tyson; his grandchildren Ryan Nava, Aly Nava and Isaiah Tyson; his mother Olga R. Nava; his sister Lupe (Efrain) Nava-Morin; his brother Roger Nava; nieces Vanessa Nava and Marissa Morin; aunts, uncles and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by Ramon Nava (Father).
Tony took printing as a vocational study at Fox Tech High School. Upon graduation, Tony continued his printing career working for several companies. He then went on to open his own small printing business. In 1990, he was hired by Southwestern Bell, which later became AT&T, where he dedicated 18 years to the company. Here, he continued his printing career, later transitioned to an operator role, and eventually advanced into a CAD specialist position.
Tony was a family man and a devoted Catholic who stayed faithful to Jesus Christ throughout his life. He and Yolanda met in 9th grade and were married for 50 years. They both had a passion for music and loved dancing. They particularly enjoyed listening and dancing to Tejano music. They shared a deep commitment to each other and their children. He found great happiness in spending time with his family, especially when he would barbecue for them. He always looked forward to gatherings and cherished these moments together. Family meant everything to him.
Sports also played a significant role in Tony’s life. Throughout his years in school, he played basketball and baseball. As an adult, he remained active in sports, playing with several softball teams over the years including The Gamboa’s, S.A. Kings, and River City. During this time, he created lasting friendships. Additionally, he participated in a bowling league, played basketball, enjoyed fishing, and played some golf. He also dedicated his time coaching basketball for different age levels. As a huge fan of the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, and Houston Astros, he loved watching their games and also enjoyed watching boxing matches with family and friends.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and specialists that provided care for Tony throughout the years. They would also like to thank the staff at Harbour Hospice for their support and guidance during this difficult time.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy San Antonio, TX 78218. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Helena Catholic Church, 14714 Edgemont St San Antonio, TX 78247 with the interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd San Antonio, TX 78237.
