Armida A. Zamarripa, a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born on March 18, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas, to Esther Alfaro Madrid.
A faithful member of El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church, Armida lived a life grounded in love, prayer, and service. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Group and joyfully assisted each year with Vacation Bible School, sharing her faith with children and families in her community.
Armida worked for many years at Levi Strauss & Co., where she was admired for her dedication and strong work ethic. Her mornings always began early with a cherished ritual of prayer, meditation, and Bible reading—a reflection of her deep and abiding faith.
She found joy in life’s simple blessings—her beloved cats and dogs, her treasured cookbooks, and the joy of trying new recipes. A gifted and creative spirit, Armida enjoyed needlepoint, quilting, painting, and crafting. She was known for hosting her church friends each year for her annual Christmas luncheon, complete with homemade cookies and her famous tamales, lovingly made with family and friends.
Beyond her many talents, Armida had a generous heart. She was a caregiver to many, often watching over her family’s children when their parents had to work. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and faith—always open to those in need of love or comfort.
Armida is now united in heaven with her beloved husband of more than 60 years, José Zamarripa; her mother, Esther Madrid; her brothers, Armando Madrid, Artemio Madrid, and Arturo Madrid; and her sister, Argentina Torres.
She leaves behind her loving daughter, Betty Zamarripa, and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory and carry her spirit in their hearts.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate caregivers of Heart to Heart Hospice for their attentive care and kindness, and to all friends and family for their prayers, love, and support during this time. A special thank you is given to those who selflessly gave their time to care for Armida when she needed it most.
