Our beloved Arnoldo “Nono” Rios was called home to our Lord on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 2:00 am. He was born on October 21, 1933 in Beeville, Texas to Francisco Rios and Rita Sanchez Rios. He was the last living child of nine siblings and enjoyed life to its fullest while living and growing up in Edcouch, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley. He served our country in both the U.S. Air Force and Army. For many years, he worked diligently at the US Post Office (San Antonio Cresthaven location) where many people got to know his friendly face and welcoming smile. After retiring from the US Post Office, he worked part time at the AT&T Center. He was undoubtedly one of the most loved ushers and enjoyed watching his Spurs play while working the skybox. As a direct Spurs employee his last year at the Center, he received an NBA Championship ring for their championship which he proudly wore all the time!
Arnoldo is survived by his wife, Mary Reyna Rios, of 63 years, his sons Eddie Rios (Marilyn) and Roland Rios (Leticia), and his daughter Delva Rios Perez. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren whom he loved tremendously: Ariana Daniels (Tyler), Victoria Rios (fiancé Daniel Ramirez), Aaron Rios, Josef Rios, Madeleine Buckle (Joseph), Arica Perez, and Aidden Robledo. “Papa Nono” was also fortunate to have spent some time with his great grandchildren: Brayden Lee Daniels and Kinsley Jane Daniels. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and in-laws who all loved their Tio Nono. He was preceded in death by his parents Francisco Rios and Rita Sanchez Rios, and his siblings: Frank Rios, Lilia Rios Rodriguez, Alicia Rios Garcia, Enrique Rios, Guale Rios, Raul “Ruben” Rios, Diana Rios Lozano, and Arturo Rios.
Arnoldo was a faithful servant of God and was full of love, compassion, and faith. He built a family rooted in Christ and gave his best in all he did. He will be greatly missed but will live in our hearts forever as he leaves behind a legacy of faith, hope, love, and laughter.
Services will be as follows: Sunday, October 23, 6:00 pm Visitation, 7:00 pm Rosary (both at Porter Loring North).
