With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the life of Arturo Moran, Jr., who began his eternal journey on September 1, 2025, at the age of 83. Arturo was a devout Christian, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend who has now been called to eternal rest. As the pillar of our family, he exemplified remarkable integrity, devotion, and unwavering faith, leaving a timeless legacy of unconditional love.
Arturo attended Fox Tech High School, San Antonio College, and had a distinguished 33-year career at Kelly AFB, retiring in 1998. A proud veteran, Arturo served courageously in the United States Air Force, Army National Guard, Air National Guard and is recognized as a Longneck Lonestar Gunfighter with the Texas Air Guard. His leadership and commitment to serving others continued by serving as Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus (1980-1881), (1993-1994), and (1994-1995), and as a Fourth Degree Knight, where his faith was a guiding light for many. Beyond his service, he shared his gift for music by playing the saxophone in the church choir, uplifting countless hearts. His boundless generosity and kindness left an eternal impact on all who knew him. His family finds comfort in the assurance that he is now at peace and joy in the arms of his Savior.
Hobbies: A talented musician, he played the saxophone and found great pleasure in listening to blues and jazz. As a loving tribute to his family, he enjoyed drawing beautiful portraits of his loved ones. He also expressed his faith through his writing, crafting poetry and reflections for his prayer group. Arturo loved camping and fishing, and was a dedicated bird watcher and dove hunter. He could often be found at local thrifting spots, searching for hidden treasures. In all seasons, he enjoyed training his beloved dogs. Arturo's passions were deeply intertwined with his love for his family and community. He was the "World’s Greatest Cheer Dad" for his three daughters and his grandchildren's #1 fan at all their sporting events. Alongside his wife, he enjoyed traveling the world, creating cherished memories with family and friends. His family's passions were his own; he was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and Boxing. Arturo was a pillar of the San Antonio community, giving his time to sell tickets for the Battle of the Flowers and Flambeau Night parades during Fiesta.
Arturo is preceded in death by: Yolanda R. Moran (Wife of 49 years), Monica McRae (Daughter), Arturo & Herminia Moran (Parents), and (5 brothers): Emilio, Mario, Manual, Carlos, Armando
Arturo is survived by his daughters and sons in law: Michelle (Joseph) Casarez, and Melanie (Sid Martinez) Moran; Timothy McRae and 7 Grandchildren: Miranda, Michael, Jacob, Matthew, Jacob, Timothy Jr., and Isabella. Sister: Irma “Bebe” (Roy) Valdez
There will be a Visitation held Sunday, September 14, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. On Monday, September 15, 2025 our doors will open at 8:30 AM we will then be going in procession for a 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St Lawrence Catholic Church, 236 E Petaluma Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78221. Burial will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, TX 78237.
