Arthur A. Peña, a cherished pillar of the San Antonio community, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2024, at the age of 89. Born in San Antonio, Texas on December 18, 1934, Arthur’s life was a testament to his enduring love for his family, his country, and his faith.
Arthur’s commitment to service was evident early on as he dedicated 20 years to the United States Army, serving twice in Korea with valor and distinction. After retiring from military service, he continued to lead by example, becoming an active member of the Knights of Columbus, where his contributions were both significant and heartfelt.
He is survived by his loving son, Dan Peña and daughter-in-law Caroline Peña, sisters Graciela Vitela and Alicia Gomez, and his adored grandchildren, Brandon and Brandi Peña. Arthur was a source of strength and inspiration to his family, guiding them with a gentle hand and an open heart.
Arthur is reunited in heaven with his loving wife of over 50 years, Rosemary Peña. Before her passing, they were blessed in celebrating their 50th year anniversary with a party that the family attended, a testament to their love and commitment to one another. Arthur is also preceded in passing by his son, Richard Peña; parents, Juan and Carlota Peña; brothers Juan Peña, Abelardo Peña, Jose Hector Peña, Salvador Peña, and sisters Bridget “Vicky” Gonzalez and Carolina Nacieneno.
Arthur’s dedication to his community was as steadfast as his love for his family. He was a long-time volunteer at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where he shared his time and talents without reservation. His ability to fix and build, a reflection of his handy nature, benefited many within the church and his broader community.
Those who knew Arthur would describe him as a loving man of faith, whose actions spoke as loudly as his words. He lived a life filled with purpose and kindness, touching the lives of everyone he met with his warm smile and generous spirit.
Arthur’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he enriched and the loving memories he created with those who had the privilege to know him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to guide and comfort his family and friends.
As we say farewell to Arthur, we celebrate a well-lived life, a journey completed with honor, and a soul that has undoubtedly found its peace. His was a life that truly embodied the values of love, service, and faith, leaving an indelible mark on the world and his family that will never be forgotten,
