

We sorrowfully announce that Arun Kumar Verma, 73, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on December 7, 2015 at 8:59 p.m. due to complications resulting from pulmonary fibrosis. Arun was born on February 21, 1942 in Madhya Pradesh, India. Upon his father's demise, Arun became the head of his family at the very young age of 14. With his mother's guidance, Arun was determined to ensure the welfare of his family. Arun completed his undergraduate studies in civil engineering at Government Engineering College of Jabalpur University. After working for a few years in India, he decided to follow greater opportunities in the United States. Upon immigrating to New York, Arun completed his graduate studies at the prestigious Cooper Union School. As he worked in New York, he continued to support his family, making sure that his sisters and brother would realize their goals with his assistance.
After fulfilling his obligations, he married Karuna, his wife in February of 1973. After living briefly in New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida, Arun finally settled in San Antonio with his family in 1979. Arun began his career in San Antonio with Embrey Partners, Ltd. During the savings and loan crisis in the late eighties, he decided to venture out on his own to create Galaxy Builders. Arun imagined and built his company with determination, tenacity, and meticulous attention to detail. Arun was at the helm of Galaxy Builders for the last 24 years, steering the growth and development of both the company's projects and its people. He was incredibly proud of the Galaxy Builders team and their accomplishments. Arun was grateful for and humbled by all of the relationships he had developed with people within the industry for the last 35 years.
Beyond work, Arun enjoyed reading national and local newspapers every morning, traveling to and learning about different countries, golfing every Saturday, playing bridge on Sunday afternoons, and watching Spurs games with his sons. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karuna Verma; his son Manish, daughter-in-law, Nina, and grandchildren, Ronen and Jiya; son Neilesh and his wife, Ashima. Arun was dedicated, loyal, and committed to all that he undertook in life. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, friend, leader and human being. He leaves behind an incredible legacy that will never be forgotten.
The service will be held Thursday, December 10, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
