Our beloved mother and grandmother Augustina Garcia Pantoja reached the next realm on March 21, 2025. We believe that she is in God’s glory, and have aspirations of being reunited with her, and all of our ancestors when the time comes.
Augustina was the soul of the family, with a heart full of love. Not only did she raise three of her own children (Miguel, Gerardo and Mary Ann), she helped raise several other family members and children of family friends.
She will be sorely missed by many who viewed her a second mother.
When Augustina earned her drivers license, one of the first things she did was use the family car to transport carloads of children to church and school. The neighborhood came to know Augustina as a selfless, caring person, genuinely interested in the well-being of everyone she met, regardless of age or financial status.
Words cannot convey the magnitude of compassion she had in her heart for all, including animals. Augustina always had a passel of dogs by her side, usually those found abandoned in the street, or abused and hurt. She’d care for them, feed them, heal them, and they, in turn were devoted to her.
Augustina was extraordinarily proud of her four grandchildren, Mike. Jr. Maribel, Amanda and Gabriel. Each brought her joy in their unique ways.
Whether she knew you or not, Augustina always complimented you, whether on your hair, clothes, or most importantly, how you treated others. As somebody who embodied the virtue, She always noticed kindness in others and appreciated it.
Up until her last day, her devoted children were by her side. She witnessed firsthand just how much of a stronghold she created with her lessons of upstanding love, understanding and strength. She leaves behind a legacy: a united family that endures even the toughest hardships.
While we mourn our loss, we hold our heads up high knowing that our beloved Augustina is watching over us from above, united with the love of her life Nazario Pantoja.
We want to express our most sincere thanks to all who have been with the family and Augustina during this time. From the staff at University Hospital, who pampered her when she was admitted for care, to the staff of the hospice agencies who made her last stages pleasant. To all the kind people at the church and staff at TFH, we appreciate everything.
