

August will be greatly missed by his many, many friends and family.
He was a gift to all who knew him. His zest for life and compassion for others was unmatched. He was a friend to all with the kindest soul and an always open ear.
He was renowned for telling a good story and sharing experiences with great humor. August was a senior at Central Catholic High School and attended Proctor Academy in Andover, New Hampshire. He graduated from San Antonio Academy. He loved football, basketball, hunting and music.
He cherished his time at the family ranch, La Corona, in South Texas and his hunting expeditions to Africa and Argentina.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marilyn Cummings Rubey and Henry Clay Koontz. August is survived by his parents, Dor Rubey and Bart Conoly Koontz; sister, Shell Munro Koontz; and brother, Bart Conoly Koontz II; grandparents, Arthur Carson Rubey III, Mary Sue Koontz Nelson and husband Thomas, as well as Dan B. Conoly, Jr. and wife Debra; aunts and uncles, Allison Rubey, Carson Rubey IV, Michael and Kathy Rubey, Shell Koontz Somoza, Claude and Jessica Koontz; cousins, Nathan Rubey, Sarah Rubey, Lucas Somoza, Storm Somoza, Henry Koontz and Serena Koontz. Godparents are Lynda McCombs and Chip Gill.
Pallbearers are: Blake Brown, Rob Cavender, Vincent Dawson, Jake Everhart, Patrick Joyce, Sam Karmia, Austin Lahourcade, Timothy Nisbet and Ross Studer.
