Barbara Jean Brown, age 80, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024, at her family’s home in San Antonio, TX. Barbara was surrounded by her loving family and dogs. She was born on February 6, 1944, in Floresville, TX, however she spent the majority of her life in San Antonio with her husband, Thomas Brown and their two children Joseph Brown and Mary Sotello.
Barbara spent her career working in a bank as a vault officer, as well as many other companies as an Administrative Assistant. Despite her love for corporate working, she had a huge passion for volunteering at the elementary to the high schools. Barbara was always involved with the schools since her daughter was in elementary all the way ‘till her grandson, Mark Anthony was in high school. The joy that it brought her to help not only the teachers and staff, but she enjoyed helping out the students in academics and extracurricular activities, as well. She always had the biggest, brightest smile on her face. She truly lit up any room that she was in.
Barbara was the absolute most loving, beautiful, sassiest, funniest wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed so dearly. Barbara, to her family, was known as Mane, was so intrigued with everyone’s life and what was going on. From wanting to know the gossip about what was going on in school to the serious discussions, as well as attending all her grandkids sporting events and any extracurricular activities on any given day. She was always there for those she loved and cared about physically and mentally, despite her being ill for over 20 years with blood cancer, it never stopped her from shinning bright. Although she was not feeling good most days, she never showed it, ensuring that the smile on her face and her hugs would make all of us feel loved at all times.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Joe, and Mary Vincik; Her son, Joseph E.V. Brown; Her brother, Joseph R. Vincik; Sister in-law, Elinta; And brother in-law, Bill Hull. She left behind a loving family, including the love of her life, Thomas C.F. Brown; Her loving daughter, Mary Ann Sotello; Son-in-law Mark Anthony Sotello; Her grandchildren, Mark Anthony Sotello (Active U.S Navy), Jacquelyn Michelle Sotello, and Megan Margarita Sotello; Sister, Mary Ann Hull; And her two grand dogs, Hazel and Max Sotello.
“Spending 80 years on a planet is truly amazing, back then you were lucky to make it to 65. So, summing up her amazing life and legacy that she left is hard to fit on a short description, when you can write a whole novel about her” – Thomas Brown, loving husband.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary West.
